In the Kręglicki family there were no culinary traditions. The family business flourished thanks to Marcin’s determination, who had been dreaming about his own Chinese restaurant for years. He developed his dream, collecting literature on Asian cuisine, and organized Chinese parties since the time he, as a teenager, came back from seasonal labour and announced that he was going to have his own restaurant. Ten years later, in 1989, he opened the restaurant - Mekong (today’s Absynt) together with his co-partner.
Agnieszka, Martin’s younger sister, the media-oriented family member, recommends tasting various cuisines of the world in “Wysokie Obcasy”. Agnieszka, who shunned food in her childhood, joined the family undertaking as a waitress and later on as a manager of Mekong. The next few restaurants they opened together with Marcin as business partners. Today, apart from running a family business, she is a happy mother of two kids: three-year-old Kajtek and one-year-old Tonia.
For five years now, Piotr, Agnieszka’s husband, has been a new partner in a growing business. Not only does he see to the efficient running of all the restaurants but also he is the family expert in wines. The rest of the family is also engaged in the family business: Beata, Marcin’s wife, takes care of the interior design; their parents – a lawyer and an economist respectively by profession, provide expert advice. Olga and Kaja, who are learning the ropes of the family business, work as …waitresses in Forteca during the holidays.
